  • Garlits Built an Ardun

I just thought it was cool to see someone having that much fun at 83 years old.

When the government pays, the government controls.

I went to his compound in Florida last year and saw one of those Arduns. I think I have a picture, I have a shit ton of pictures. I took 3 different cameras, so I have to merge them all together. If you have not been, its one of the nicest auto museums I have ever been too. He has so many hemi motors, blowers, race cars its not even funny. Some very rare cars not to mention his personal swamp rat race cars. He has been testing some electric top fuel type cars and there was a youtube video of him going sub 8's in the 1/4, ill see if I can find it.

I know that his wife Pat died early last year, but I haven't seen his new chick. I wonder if it was one of the girls/ladies that was working at his Museum, they were a couple of lookers working there...

SR-37, the Quest for 200 MPH on Batteries Dragster, is being configured with its own 1.5 megawatt power grid for 2014 at the famed Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing in Ocala, Florida.

Yep, I had a private tour of the back shop next to the museum. Cool stuff and he's a really nice guy.

I just visited the museum back in January when I was diving in Williston, Fl. That place is amazing, the amount of stuff he has collected kinda makes me think he is a borderline hoarder but that is what makes it such a unique museum. You can walk around it three times and see new stuff that you didn't see the first or second time around. The engine room was really cool with original Hemi blueprints, rare motors and Smokey Yunicks first Dyno. I had an old man walk up on me while I watched one of the videos that were playing and we started talking. Come to find out he worked in the museum and would watch the video every morning before his shift. As we were talking he mentioned he use to race at Brainard in the 70's then I realized he probably raced my dad when he lived in Minnesota back then. Well worth the $20 plus they give you free oranges but if you can swing it get the private tour with Don.
