those guys are pretty ballsy/foolish to be riding their bikes on that particular stretch of road though. i'm pretty sure there's lots of other nice roads in socal that arent hotspots for speeding motorcycles and cars.

It was just plain foolish. It's a well known fact those roads are full of idiots in cars and on motorcycles. If bike guy didn't understand he was taking his life into his own hands he's a moron. The "share the road" crap only goes so far, especially with blind turns and no shoulders.

It's Mulholland Dr. It's a winding road in the Hollywood hills with awesome views of the city. It's frequently very congested, because it's a pretty drive. You're also legally obliged to share the road with bicycles in most states, just like you would any other vehicle. It's not just a philosophy.

Not saying it is, but rather if the view is worth the risk of being ass ended by a car or bike, more power to you. You should know "share the road" does not work well when vehicles traveling significantly slower become an impedance to what is a normal flow of traffic. Especially when those slower vehicles have nowhere else to go and that normal flow are those who want to drive as aggressively as they can.
