j/k! But damn those old stubborn mules that can't accept when it's time to hang up the keys.
My grandfather wasn't happy when he gave up his license.. But he had just driven through a store front, so it was probably a bit easier for him. Luckily nobody was hurt.

There is a big change in assisted living and nursing homes now. They have many more freedoms but its still going to be hard on any of us to give things up.
You go your whole life being told make your own decisions and make your own way. Only to be stuck in a place and told what to do and when.

What sucks even more is when there are grown ass "kids" that can't find the time to visit and take them places to help keep them from driving.

He's in his mid 80's and really shouldn't be driving any more yet he'll get in his car any time he needs to go somewhere. Fortunately, the accidents he's had in the past few years have been minor and the last one took out a headlight so it won't pass inspection.

He and my grandmother went to lunch with some friends (the friends drove), but it had been raining. As he was stepping up on the curb, his (still numb) foot slipped, casing him to fall and hit his head. That caused bleeding and swelling, and he never recovered (passed away like 2 weeks later). What sucked was that he was conscious, but could not speak, eat, and we were not sure if he could even understand us. He would look at us, but that was it, No other real signs of even knowing who we were.
