    We've marveled at the ingenious use of shipping containers for housing before,?but this one really excels?in terms of maximizing a tiny space with functional living elements. There's enough space to live comfortably,?relax when you need to, and even have a rooftop dance party?on the upper deck. Build by Cubica, based out of Costa Rica, this 160 sq. ft. home is

    They are a cool idea, especially for something like a hunting cabin, but I understand most of them have a bunch of nasty chemicals in them, mainly in the paint since they come from China.

      "Most" of the ones you buy from dealers around here strip the paint, re coat and install new wood flooring for liability purposes. The only thing you have to worry about is radiation absorption into the steel. Buy a cheap Geiger counter from Ebay and you should be good to go.

              You would think they'd be a more affordable option, but apparently they're about the same cost or more as traditional construction.

              Still, it's a cool idea.

                      They don't have to be as small as the one shown.

                      And you gain economy of scale when you do a large structure, but of course then you've got more complex assembly and finish-out.

                          They used to be $900 each for a 45' container. Now they are $3200 plus because of the container home movement.
