A Florida man thought he was acting heroically, but as it turns out, he jumped the gun.
Michael Foster, 43, thought the worst when he spotted a man walking into a Walmart with a handgun holstered under his coat.
As you can see from the store's video above, Foster tackled the man from behind and put him in a chokehold.
According to a witness, 62-year-old Clarence Daniels pleaded with Foster to let him go, telling him he had a license to carry the weapon.
When police arrived, they confirmed that Daniels did have a permit to carry the gun, and Foster was arrested on a count of battery.
Police advise concerned citizens to call law enforcement, not take matters into their own hands.

Now if he appears to be in a good state of mind and constantly saying it is legal and he has a license etc...i will prob disarm him where he is not a threat and wait for police from there...not hold him down...guy should have been arrested for assaultOriginally posted by GeorgeG. I don't the legal specifics on that in Florida, however.Matts1911SA - XBox Live Gamertag

And I agree, though, that the old man would've been justified in shooting his attacker in this case.
Old guy didn't appear to be in hunter/killer mode, he was just strolling into Wal-Mart calm as could be.
I sure hope some assault charges are brought to bear on the "heroes".Matts1911SA - XBox Live Gamertag
