I painted my 66' and I am now well off enough I am going to let someone else kill their back and sand/spray/sand/buff it for me.

Just be careful who you send it to for that kind of work...paint prison is a terrible thing. My 70' Convertible is non-living proof. After spending over 2-years there I got the car back in worse shape from when it was dropped off.
...I've since learned how to weld body panels.

Seriously...do ALL of the background checking you can, research the shop well, and avoid those smaller operations. If they want ANY money up-front, find someone else.

Thanks guys. Paint jail is perfect term for any body stuff. Its kinda painful. The hood took over three month and it was almost perfect. Won't be taking car there. Hood looks good. $640 good i dunno. Raymonds in Crowley did the paint. Shop where going always seems to be spitting out cars to get paid. Apparently Corbets shop across street where Fired up guys go. Doubt I could afford him to paint now lol.
Cool to see a few Chevelles on the board. Greatest thing about here is the diversity of cars and we all dig em. Not just mustang mustang mustang.

I'm not that customer, and my comeback to this....real simple, then don't take the job if you aren't capable of that level of work. FWIW - this was not an insurance/collision shop (which I assume is the business you are in?), only restorations, and only A-Body GM cars....VERY specialized....so I think probably apples/oranges for this discussion anyway. That's the level of work the guy set expectations to. I wasn't in a hurry and made that clear up front...I wasn't working on any deadlines, but I also went into this deal only wanting new quarters and some other small bodywork, and a show quality paint job...I will admit my standards are pretty high when it comes to paint, but I also understand that comes with a $15K-$20K price tag on a car like this....money wasn't an issue. But of course we see here that it never even got close to paint. I also (stupidly) gave this guy about half of the money along the way...and had to finally show up randomly and threaten a beat down to get my car back even in this shape.
Disclaimer - not pointing a finger back, calling-out, associating, etc, etc...or trying to be offensive...just a little sore subject for me.
