  • Digging out moms car

Last years resolution was to try and be social. Well I failed and gonna try again starting with my own build thread that may never get done. Background on the car-my mom got pregnant with me. Month before being born, my parents bought a 70 Malibu 400 in Beaumont Tx. We moved to Germany for awhile then Ohio where she sold it. Luckily she bought it back before we returned to the best country on earth in 86 -Texas . When I was fifteen I was gonna build and drive it. Well my crappy sockets and lack of experience stopped me at the second head with a rounded head bolt. Then I got into turbo 4 cyls and car was put aside in a agarage. Well couple months back I was wandering Craig's for nothing in particular and came across quarter panels for it. They were priced right for me to get them and start. So heres some picsof the family heirloom. My appt to bring in to body shop is this week after I yank insides out. Luckily the floorboards look better than outside sheet metal. The biggest benefit of being stored inside.

    Its an LS3!

Ill add some here and there. Photobucket be pissin me off at the moment

If that is how you read it ,then yes you found out my secret.

Thought it was weird with 400 badges,350 sticker on air cleaner and a 396/402 under the hood. No power anything, bench seat, no ac. Cant imagine someone in Beaumont ordering a car without ac lol. Dash has no cracks and interior is decent.

Very cool with the history and it's still in your family. What are your plans for it? Keep it stock?

        LS Swap?

Probably just a mild head, cam and intake. A little something to keep from getting my ass kicked by a turbo'd 4. Im sure my little cars would walk all over it but they dont have the classic muscle car feel lol.

with what you got there, it'd be ludicrous not to do a 5.3 whatever auto trans you already have.. good luck with the build though, you'll probably be on the power tour 10 years before i even crank mine over

Technically still moms car and she loves that big block. Its weird actually.lol Many memories rockin down the autobahn hanging with the Porsches. Were gonna have remind each other to get out in garage and get something done Tremor. At the end of the day the last thing I feel like is working on another car . Quarters will be done since Im not tempted to do that myself.

Anybody from Duncanville high that remembers Mr Ketron? He was the auto shop teacher I bought a real SS from for the ft sheetmetal. After that I called scrap guy to pick it up. The hell was I thinking!!?

So it sounds like you will just be funding other people to do the work?

I wish I could do that but body work isn't my thing. All mechanicals will be my doing.

Had hood painted to hopefully keep me motivated. Mmm black cherry

                            That's a beefy axle for a Malibu.
