Yeah dude, East Hastings is horrible. Way worse and I've been through the LA skid row. There is a place off Hastings called blood alley, never go there please. But it is, AFAIK, the longest/worst skid row in NA.

My dad's friend took me there when I was 12 to educate me with fear. I think he still does social work down there, fukdat!

I very briefly got out of the rental car. My shoes were making velcro noises with every step, because they were sticking to the pavement. I've never had that happen anywhere other than a movie theater in my life. There were addicts stumbling all over the street, and a big group of about 30 of them were hassling passersby. No way in hell I was walking through that shit!

I had a group of ten-year-old black kids throw parking lot pebbles at me as I walked into the Philadelphia Museum of Art. There is no shithole area of LA that even comes close to the nasty bunch of 'brownstones' I drove past on my way to Pat's/Geno's. No offense but I don't think you've seen all that Philadelphia has to offer...

It has been awhile since I've been in around Philly (Other than the airport and roads to/from it) - but I think they are working to straighten it up a little. Hell, I have noticed a difference outside the airport over the last 15 years or so.

I still do not trust it though.
