  • Mailbox got hit... can you identify the car?

My neighbors mailbox got hit around 3:13am. My security camera picked it up. Its blurry because this is a zoomed in to the very top left corner of the image. It looks like a mid 90s to early 2000s explorer to me. There was a license plate in the road though we cant guarantee that it was the car that hit the mailbox. If it matches the car in the video, the police are inclined to do more. This is the 3rd time this mailbox has been hit. The first loop is slomo, then regular speed, then zoomed out a bit.

    edit/////
It happened again, name the car? It looks like a late 90s Buick Lesbre to me

I can see it being an Explorer as you suggest. Only other thing that jumps out to me is an older Pathfinder..

they took the plate as evidence. Neighbor is pressing charges. My neighbor told me they would look into the plate but it doesnt guarantee it was from the car that hit it. Video + plate = they are going to look for him.

People bitch and moan about front plates all the time, and when they come off as designed (as probably in this case) they refuse to see the reason it's a law in the first place.

Of course the plate in the street more than likely came from that incident. Post the plate and Public Data it.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to go to the registered owner's addy to check on the vehicle.

I'm almost there with you, though it looks like the majority of the impact was at the corner of the front end, not likely where the plate would be affixed. But if it's not the offenders, it sure is one hell of a coincidence.

I laughed my ass off, solely because smoking a brick mailbox on a straight road in good weather is absurd. Driving off like nothing happened is the drunken icing on the cake.

Those things are designed flimsy for a reason.

I see everything from just the plate dislocated to whole front facias torn off with the plate.

How many plates do you see lying in the roadway on a daily basis? Almost nil.

Road debris gets brushed off to the side with the passage of traffic. If the plate was in the road, I'd give a 98.999999% chance it's from the offending vehicle.

By the way.. The third time? Is it in an awkward position or on a curve or something? It may be time for your neighbor to set up their own camera zoomed up on it!
