I found some more old pictures of my Mustang. It had the SVO 2.3 in it and gold Saleens when I bought it. Then I put the Cobra wheels and put a LAI on it. Then blew up the 4cyl and put a 302 in it and went drag racing. It was pretty slow, but it did outrun an R1... in the eighth.

i took that on my cracker jack phone! camera's broke.

Yep. Ghetto liquid-to-air intercooler. The top was a stop sign heli-arc'd to the original SVO intercooler casting. The bottom was just a piece of sheet steel since the SVO IC was steel there too. The system used 1/2" hose and an ice chest under the hatch. The pump was a 12v unit for an RV sink (running water). It worked as well as I needed it to, I routinely saw 30psi and it was pretty fast for a 2.3. Until I holed a piston...

I also had a TurboCoupe IC I used when I didn't want to run the LAI.

I dig it . I have been a few rounds with the 2.3t's in both injected and carbed trim . I like em but they are not a v8 .

                    Exactly.

That's why I put a V8 in it as soon as it holed the piston. Our man Denny will appreciate these pics!!

                    *edit*

'79-81 Cobra... be still my heart. More pics please!!

You really should sell me that! SROD?

My '80 hatchback was built from an '86 SVO wreck, so it had all the drivetrain from that car (2.3 with .48 a/r T3, PE computer with 30lb injectors, T-5, 7.5 with 3.73s).

I put a K&N on the vane meter and used a stock Ranger roller cam in it. I was fixing it more than driving it. I was doing a head gasket about once a month and I put two clutches in it. I knocked about a dozen teeth off the 3.73s so I replaced it with a 3.27 8.8 from a Mark VII. That was probably at its fastest. Then I put a .63 a/r T3 on it and swapped the gears for 4.30s and that made it slower than stock. Oh well. I beat on it a lot and it was easy to fix. I miss it.
