I think there is too much complaining on the price, so I ran the numbers.
2015 GT Premium as equipped above with destination - MSRP $42800
2014 GT Premium similar equipment with destination - MSRP $43550 (excluding incentives)
Here is the breakdown with notes:
For the 2015 Mustang GT Premium:
Base Price - $36100
401a package - $1795 (includes Shaker Pro System, HD radio, memory seats, blind spot system )
Enhanced Security Pkg - $395 (see notes below)
GT Track Package - $2495
Premier Trim with Color Accent group - $395
Voice Activated NAV - $795
Destination Charges - $825
For the 2015 Mustang GT Premium:
Base Price - $35310
401A package - $395 (does not include a radio upgrade, memory seats, or blind spot detection)
GT Track package - $2495
Comfort Package - $650 (2015 has this as standard equipment on the Premium)
Electronic Package - $2340 (Navigation and features related)
Rearview Camera - $240 (standard on the 2015 Premium)
Shaker Pro System - $1295
Destination - $825
I excluded the security package for the 2014 model because that includes back up radar. It is also over $695. Removing the security package from the 2015 would take off another $395. Back up radar on the 2015 is $295..
These are two VERY similarly equipped cars. The only difference in real life is that one has $2000 of incentives on the hood and probably dealer discounts on top of that.
On top of this, we hear reports that the 2015 GT will outperform the Boss 302. That car started something around $45K and went up from there.
In another year, there will be discounts on the hood. Under Skip, Grapevine had $5000 or more discounted from GT Premiums. I have no doubt we will eventually see those same discounts. It just depends on how long it takes for sales to level out...
