I think there is too much complaining on the price, so I ran the numbers.

2015 GT Premium as equipped above with destination - MSRP $42800
2014 GT Premium similar equipment with destination - MSRP $43550 (excluding incentives)

Here is the breakdown with notes:

For the 2015 Mustang GT Premium:

    Base Price - $36100
401a package - $1795 (includes Shaker Pro System, HD radio, memory seats, blind spot system )
Enhanced Security Pkg - $395 (see notes below)
    GT Track Package - $2495
Premier Trim with Color Accent group - $395
    Voice Activated NAV - $795
    Destination Charges - $825

For the 2015 Mustang GT Premium:
    Base Price - $35310
401A package - $395 (does not include a radio upgrade, memory seats, or blind spot detection)
    GT Track package - $2495
Comfort Package - $650 (2015 has this as standard equipment on the Premium)
Electronic Package - $2340 (Navigation and features related)
Rearview Camera - $240 (standard on the 2015 Premium)
    Shaker Pro System - $1295
    Destination - $825

I excluded the security package for the 2014 model because that includes back up radar. It is also over $695. Removing the security package from the 2015 would take off another $395. Back up radar on the 2015 is $295..

These are two VERY similarly equipped cars. The only difference in real life is that one has $2000 of incentives on the hood and probably dealer discounts on top of that.

On top of this, we hear reports that the 2015 GT will outperform the Boss 302. That car started something around $45K and went up from there.

In another year, there will be discounts on the hood. Under Skip, Grapevine had $5000 or more discounted from GT Premiums. I have no doubt we will eventually see those same discounts. It just depends on how long it takes for sales to level out...

Is the MT82 tranny any good or does it still have problems? Why didn't Ford just charge another $500 or less and put in the TR6060 in all their manual-tranny Mustangs, especially the V8 models?

I don't mind the front end, but the ass end has been ugly since `05, and the new ones look stretched out too far from the roof back. It almost looks like you could hop in and drive it facing either direction.

The MT-82 gets a bum rap, but in my opinion, it's a smooth shifting transmission with good ratios. It's pretty tough and capable of working behind 700+hp cars weighing 3600lbs on sticky tires. IMO, that's awesome.

The biggest problems I've seen with the MT-82 are the way Ford mounted its shifter. On the '11-14 cars, the shifter straddles the transmission case on one end, and the transmission tunnel on the other. When the engine is moving - as it will, since it's mounted on rubber - the orientation of the shifter to the transmission is constantly changing.

I've seen a few pics that lead me to believe Ford has changed the way they mount the shifter on the new car. I haven't seen any confirmation yet.

That looks nice! I'll guess he paid sticker seeing how they're just coming out. I need to see if my local dealer has one to drool on.

I thought the same until I saw it in person at the Dallas Auto Show. I was persuaded quickly.

I saw it at the fair, sitting next to a 14, and they were very similar. More similar than the 98-99 change.

I've got no issue with the MT-82. I hated the stock shifter for a bit, but once I got used to it, I haven't seriously even considered putting an aftermarket unit on the car, which is something I've never done with any Mustang I've bought with the intention of keeping.

Good to know the MT-82 is tougher than I initially heard. Looking forward to seeing the new Mustang around town.

I wish. The early S197's are still stupid expensive. If the 05-07's were down around the 4-6K range, I would own one, but no way in hell am I giving $10K+ for a car that my firebird will outrun. I would rather get a C5 corvette for that price.

This... The only issue I had was some notchy shifts when cold, but once it was up to temp then no problems. I went with the MGW shifter eventually and it was completely worth the upgrade.

I like how people forget about the old trusty T5 that became a ticking time bomb if you started making any power at all.

Yea, you could say that. However the starting price is still $32K. Is there another 435HPish sports car out there for that much? A base Camaro SS starts at over $34K and still has less power (and is heavier). Even the Challenger RT starts at over $34K and it only has 375HP..

Things got more expensive, but they also got a helluva lot better.

The only ones bitching are the ones that can't afford it. If you can afford it and don't like the way it looks, the power numbers don't lie. Like Sarge posted, where the hell else are you going to get a 450hp car for under 50k? I maybe a Ford/Mustang homer but I haven't seen anything that makes my pants wiggle other than the Challenger SRT, but its damn near twice the price and power to weight ratio is about the same.

BTW, my '12 GT premium MSRP'd for 36k but I didn't pay sticker.
