    USS Alabama - In Mobile Alabama, if you have never gone and seen this it is a must. Three different tours you can do. Easily spend all day with the USS Drum and the plane museum also!

                        Most of these forts were named after key people during the revolutionary war and the primitive forts were setup then. As each generations conflict came around they were updated and remodeled. Civil war is when a lot of the earth/brick build up construction came around and replaced timbers and sand. WW1 a lot of the larger batteries were established(there is one paper where a general writes how useless some of the batteries are and are unfit for use for WW1), then refit for WW2 weaponry some years later. Fort Morgan and Pickens were actually active and played a part of WW2, being used as home base for minesweepers in the gulf.

                            Great pics, and they bring back a lot of great memories. I used to run past the lighthouse every morning during the week.
                            Next to Texas, the Pensacola area is really the only area that I'd consider living (again).
