  • My mouse trap caught more than a mouse

Found this caught in a sticky trap out in the garage. Scared the shit outta me. I don't like snakes and totally wasn't expecting it.

Anyone able to identify the type of snake? I assume it's harmless but the head looked maybe a little diamond shaped but then again maybe I just thought that cause I was looking for it.

Hard to tell without getting a closer look, but from what I can see it does honestly look like a texas rat snake. A much better mouse trap to keep around than the one it's stuck on...

Kinda looked like a king snake. That's be a shame as they eat other snakes.

I found one in my garage a few weeks ago on a sticky pad as well. He was pissed off his head was stuck to it.

The water snakes and moccasins look so similar I never can tell. We aren't used to this stuff so my wife is pretty freaked. Anything we can do to keep snakes out of our yard?

I don't know how much it would take to keep them out of your yard, but you can sprinkle powdered sulfur or moth balls around your house perimeter to keep them out so I have heard. They won't go where they can't smell and both of those they don't like.

                            This.

Glue traps are fucking cruel. What a shitty, slow, painful way to die, even for its intended targets. They also catch birds, lizards, frogs, etc. Poison is bad, too. Get a real mouse trap if you have a rodent problem.

This post fails to stir up any feelings of compassion. I tend to hope their friends are watching and spread the news so they stay out of my house.
