He ended up basically saving the company and turning it around in a big way. The owner ended up splitting ownership between himself, his son and daughter who both work there, and my brother. Then put my brother in charge.

Just to give you an idea of his house, this is the google maps satellite image.. Baseball infield (lighted) on the left, batting cage on the top. He plans to build an additional detached garage with second story apartment in the area of the lower right, but put it off after buying and furnishing his vacation home and boat in Lake Havasu.
Dang man!!! thats some chedda there....

With all these pictures - when I get home I will make sure and walk through my front door today vs my garage

Painting the sheet rock will go a long way. Looks like you already have the floor painted? How does it hold up?

My neighbor was tossing out some sheets of pink foam insulation that I used in my door. It made a huge difference though I was never crazy about the color. Your silver stuff I bet works well.

I went on a garage crawl 3 or 4 years ago last time I went to the Lone Star Roundup. We toured several huge garages similar to some pictured here. If you ever get a chance to go on one of these crawls, DO IT!

Lol. It's one of those things that makes you feel inadequate as a brother. His vacation house is nicer than my only house. Hell, his garage is nearly the same sq footage as my house.

I guess it works out in the bell curve though. I am one of 4 sons. One does extremely well, one never had a pot to piss in (my brother that passed last year) and then two of us that fall somewhere in between.

Still need to finish painting it and hang up the rest of my stuff. Nothing special. I will be buying another house in the next year or two and definitely getting at least a 3 car garage this time.

Nah man...just b/c he has more money doesn't make him better than you, or you an inadequate brother. As brothers you were cut from the same cloth....eliminate his wealth from comparison and I'll bet that playing field is plenty level.

I have a brother that could buy & sell my ass 3-4 times over too....but at the end of the day he's not a better person....if nothing else I know he's put his morals aside to get there, much more than I would have. I even like to tell myself he's a dumbass now and then.

BTW - Sorry you lost one.

                      just gonna leave this here

I was lurking on another forum and heard mention of the Garage Journal. I couldn't get here fast enough. Originally from Indiana I had a love of barns and cars. Moving to Florida in 1983 my first home did not have a garage. In my twenties I had no trouble getting up early every morning and...

...and I agree with your point, she's always been onboard with my car hobby/habit, even before it became a source of income. However when we were younger (with a small child) and much less income, it definitely wasn't as much a factor, simply due to lack of time and funds to support it.
i made it clear up front with my fiance that cars will always be a huge part of my life and she understood. even when i got frustrated and said i was done with dreaming of a big shop to work out of, mind you i just want a 30x40, she refused to let me. i dont have it yet, but its nice to know once we buy she is making something she has no interest in a priority for me.
