  • Trust me, I'd love to do the L92, vic jr, accufab, plate setup, etc. But eventually the rotating assembly will become a huge liability. From what I have heard the LQ9 is pretty stout until 550-600rwhp then you've gotta start being pretty careful about any detonation on pump gas. I figure the l92/vic setup would yield around 500rwhp, throw a 150 shot on that and you might be on borrowed time.

I think this car with 500rwhp on motor would be a lot of fun.

    • What would it take to buy this car? Just curious, Or roughly how much $$$ you have in the swap? I would like to swap mine over. I just like yours better for some reason. lol.

      • I have some 243 castings I just need out of the way. They came off of a '01 Z06 I think. (blue springs/solid valves) Just clean them up and I'd at least do a valve job while they were out. $250

So hard to say how much I have in it. So many little things that nickle and dime you to death. I had a running parts sheet that listed out all the parts and what they retail for (was too hard to cost everything any other way since some of the parts I inherited with the roller and through trades, etc.) Based on retail pricing the coupe has a lot of $$$$$ in it. If you would like to see the parts list with pricing send me your email address and I'll send it to you. As far as what I'd sell it for, I'd be selling it for a loss no matter what and I'm not really at a point that I am needing/willing to do that. I've known all along that building this wouldn't be a profitable exercise, but I have had a blast putting it all together and learning along the way so I am not too bummed out about it. I do appreciate the interest though.

Maaaannnnnnnnn, do want do want do want. Lemme think on it for the day, I am trying to give this guy some money for a Wolfe anti-roll bar right now and the old lady will def. shit if I buy the bar, your heads, new head gaskets, valve job, etc. I am very interested just not sure if I can swing everything at once right now without it showing up on the radar!

          • Well, the coupe (almost) has a/c and heat now. The car had been gutted so it needed everything, heater box, wiring, control panel, vacuum lines, mounts, and then obviously everything under the hood.

Decided to put the f-body evap core into the mustang heater box, what a PITA, had to fiberglass a new bottom on the mustang's heater box since the ls1 evap core is larger. Came out nice but I've had the fiberglass itches since I did it on Saturday. Using the Escalades compressor, the f-body condensor, the escalade accumulator, and the f-body evap. This car is such a mutt! I have decided that I need to come up with a list of what car each of the parts is from just incase I ever happen to sell it!

Now I just need to get some custom lines made and we'll (hopefully) be blowing cold air!

I also went ahead and put in a new heater core while I was in there just so I wouldn't find out the one out of the donor car was bad.

Oh, and since I had the dash off I completely re-did most of the wiring inside, soft-loomed most of it, ran it in a much more organized fashion, got rid of a ton of splices that I had made over the past few months, etc. Huge PITA, probably cut/soldered/heat shrinked 100 wires on Saturday night (was up till 4:30am).

Lastly I got HP Tuners and am going to start playing with the tune myself. I wired in an Innovate LC-1 wideband and bought the Greg Banish tuning DVD (plus have read a ton on LS1-tech). Going to do a speed density tune on it and see if I cant finally get the tune all perfect.

Ya, it was nice when I hooked the battery up and everything worked correctly, blower motor, radio, lights, engine, etc. After all the wiring I moved around I was a little nervous that something might have gotten overlooked.

My buddy thinks I am crazy for going through this to add a/c to a car I pretty much just drive to and from the track. Maybe I am, but the heat is just too much during the summer and makes me not want to drive it, and I am during the winter it'll be the same story if I didn't have heat. Hell, just the blower motor blowing air at you is a huge improvement over what it had!

Here you can see the GM evap core and the Ford heater core

And here is the GM compressor.

I have really been considering picking up another set of wheels to cruise on. I have a set of M/T radials I plan to put on once I eat up these M/T bias ply ET streets so maybe that'll have to do. Since I have a spool and no wipers wet weather will always be a no-no!

Thanks man, I broke my garage fan on Friday night and being a tight wad I decided to buy a nice replacement online rather than some mediocre fan in a retail store so I got to spend literally all weekend out in the garage sweating like crazy. I just hope I didn't stain my race seats with how much sweat was pouring off of me. The a/c stuff wasn't fun, but re-running all the wire in soft loom and all the soldering in the heat was the real killer.

                      • If you could swing doing a set of Saleen's or TSW's that would be sweet.

                          • Well, first try at AC charge didn't go as well as planned. The port on the accumulator had a cap on it just like a low side charging port would and I assumed that was what it was. Nope, it was a low pressure port Well, in a last ditch effort we tapped a R12 -> 134a fitting for the correct pitch of the low pressure switch and charged the system. Everything was good, system was blowing cold. When we removed the special fitting we found that the schrader valve in the switch port was crushed and as soon as we removed the fitting we lost a lot of freon before we could get the pressure switch on and the system cycles and there is no way to fill it up. I decided to have it evacuated and have a real low pressure port welding onto the suction line. Looks like we'll be making another attempt at charging it up on Thursday or Friday. Big thatnks to Buick355 for helping me out, he is a real good guy (and lives like 3 blocks away!).

Anyway, here is a picture a buddy took that came out pretty cool I though:
