        LSX > Modular Ford

cheaper to build and make almost as much power N/A as a blown mod motor.

Why are you running the truck intake?

Truck intake makes more power then the car.

Sweet as hell! 120mph guage though? I know you probably won't be seeing 120+ a whole lot, but when you do, it'd be nice to know it.

Looks good. I know a guy with a LS2/T56 in a silver coupe. The dude is fucking cool as shit and the car will surprise the hell out of you with how quick it is.

That would have been triple the price and equal the power.

                        x2.
Those LSx motors make some nice power and move out good.I think best bang for the buck on the LQ4/9 Motors.

LMAO, when I found these (they are actually for a 6.0 power stroke but I cut that off the bottom) I knew I had to have them.

Picked it up off a board member, might have paid a little too much, but it was complete and he delivered. The iron block 6.0's are a great base to start with and I plan to cam it, spray 100-150 shot for a while, then build a low comp. turbo setup for it. Thought about going carbed/l92, but after all the wiring I am going to stick with EFI.

I really appreciate it, it has been a long time coming, but I put the final Summit order in today (ouch, that hurt the pocket), so after the holiday this thread should see some new material, hope to have it out for the Spring cruise this year!

I think crooner said it best, I am not going to diss the 4.6 dohc (as a matter of fact I have one parked next to the lsx coupe in my garage), but dollar for dollar the 6.0 swap has a good bang for the buck, and while it isn't exactly rare anymore, it makes people look twice which is hard to do with a foxbody these days.

From what I have heard it goes like this:
                          LS1 Intake < Truck Intake < LS6 Intake
For the increase in flow numbers between the truck and ls6 I believe my $300 would be better spent at this point on finishing the project and adding more beneficial go fast parts, and Lord knows I have the hood clearance!

Ya, I know, I've caught slack for the 120mph, but with 3.73's and no overdrive my speed at 6000rpms will be 130 or so, so I though 180 or 200 would be stupid. Maybe I made a mistake, but I am really not even worried about the speedo!

I've got all the fuel parts ordered, gonna make some time over the holidays hopefully to get some progress done, will keep this updated.

As always, thanks DFWMustangs, I really appreciate the kind words and the great advice I receive here.

I think you will regret the 120 speedo when you go turbo... I'm assuming you'll ditch the 3.73's when you go boosted.

I've heard of that car, one might say it offered some inspiration for this project. On a serious note, thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I might have spent a little more money then I had to, but for everything to bolt together like a factory install made it worth the extra dough.

Ya, my bro-in-law is building a 65 fastback, he is a DIE-HARD Ford guy, his dream swap is a '03 cobra engine/trans. I have looked at the cost to do the swap and it is exponentially higher then what even a built lq9 swap cost, could probably do a turbo lq9/powerglide for cheaper! Needless to say, he won't be doing an ls swap, looks like he'll be going 351c instead.

Maybe so, but in the grand scheme of things $100 bucks or so and I can swap out for a higher mph unit.

I started off strong, but being a new "first time home-owner" put lots of dents into the hot-rod budget. Thankfully I have a great lady at home who will put up with my addictions.

I am super budget orientated, I will search my ass off to save a few bucks. This is good and bad, sometimes looking for the best deal will get your burned, you'll miss out on something because you think you can find it cheaper, you put more effort into finding something then you saved, etc. Looking back at this project there are a TON of ways I could have saved money, but like I said above, to have a setup that is bolt in, engineered, fits better then a stock 5 liter, etc. is probably worth the extra bucks.

I know I wont be lighting the world on fire when she first gets moving, but I cant wait to get out to the cruises, drive it to the track, go grab a burger in it, etc. This is my first "fast car" that hasn't had to do double duty as a daily so the option to rip it apart and go crazy is also very appealing .
