I am probably just going to replace both of them with the flexible Gates hoses that can bend and wont kink.

I tried making the part numbers you gave work but neither would.

The upper hose 21575 doesn't reduce down to the right size for the waterpump (1.25") so that was a no go (going to return it).

The lower 20603 couldn't work because this radiator outlet faces inwards and the outlet on the waterpump faces outwards, so it is going to have to basically make a crazy trip. Unfortunetly I cut this one up so I'm just going to have to eat it, but at least it gives me an idea of what I need.

    Lower

    Upper

So I think I am going to take both of the hoses I made and take them to O'Reillys off Matlock where they seem to have a huge inventory and see if I can either find something that will work or just pick up some of the flexible Gates.

    • oh man that sucks that those didn't work for you... I assume the difference in the width of the radiator and that distance between the Radiator and the motor is the cause

good thing hoses are THAT expensive.

I can already tell it is going to look a thousand times better then it did before, hope it cools a thousand times better too.

cooling > looks in my book for sure. ya, i got the hoses off amazon so no biggie, they were only a few bucks. i am sure your car (and radiator) width are the source of the differences. i appreciate the help, and i got the waterpump drilled/tapped so should be good to go soon.

        • if you aren't in a hurry you should dig through the hoses and see if you can find one that works... I'm not a big fan of the flexible hoses just because of looks.

              • thought this picture was funny, just shows how times have changed in terms of tuning cars!

i doubt the guys who built this 1979 mustang would have ever thought that it'd eventually be powered by a efi gm motor and would need two laptops hooked up to it for tuning, etc.

Yeah I doubt it. In '79, a laptop was a chick that danced for cash.
