All those bikes overseas are restricted by the government to a certain size motor. I know the ones in China are restricted to something like 50 or 75cc, so they are generally pretty light compared to your standard motorcycle in the US, and having seen some of the payload those guys carry on their head on a daily basis (the video with the guy throwing a bunch of bricks on a platform on his head comes to mind) I can believe this.
