Government got into the healthcare because they wanted to insure people who have pre-existing conditions, high risk, etc. Same rule applies, it isn't viable, if it was companies would do it. It's practically a law, you name the industry the government gets into, and I will show you a business that isn't viable.

After reading that last article, I feel horrible for the guy.... Spent his savings on it for retirement, loses the house with no insurance AND has to pay to burn it down...

If you can't afford insurance for your house, you can't afford it. Also, that lake is littered with chunks of house and cliff that have fallen in. I don't feel bad.

Surely someone's getting sued over this.

If you buy land adjacent to Corps of Engineers land, they warn you that a change in shoreline can mean your house gets torn down. My parents got that warning, when they bought at Whitney.

I can't remember which station it is, but they are going to stream the house getting burned down this morning.

The house is a maroon, 3-story, A-frame wooden building with giant windows. We love it out there when it's not so hot. Saw a bald eagle last time we were out there in February. I kinda wish were there now so we could watch the carnage from the deck.

If I get on the water (and over that way) I'll see if I can pick it out.

I'm headed that way shortly for the weekend. We don't have a lakeview but, my boss has a place in our neighborhood with a crow's nest on the roof that has a great view of white bluff.
