  • Because it is part of the music. There are many regular songs (not bass music) that have information in the subsonic range. Its what makes you feel like you are there instead of hearing a reproduction. Couple that with new tech and the rest of your argument is invalid. Class D amps are very efficient and run cool. My sub amp has never gotten anywhere near as warm as my door speaker amp. The subs have an XBL2 motor structure and with a high quality coil and aluminum cone they also do not get hot and have no issue controlling driver movement at those frequencies.
Yes you do pull a bit more juice for those subsonic frequencies but its only 10-20% more and it just adds so much to the whole listening experience.

    • Well I tried to get a decent audio recording today but the phone just aint having it. I need an HD camera because videos do not do the system any kind of remote justice. My phones dynamics suck and for some reason it lets in some weird interference every now and then. Only way I could get the highs to tame down was to record using the front facing camera.
Just because I went through all the trouble to make it I am posting it. LOL

      • Well getting ready for another change or two. I am selling my PHD tweeters and going to switch to air motion tweeters since they now have them for cars. Unbelievable sound from those things so I want a set. Also since the guy that made my subs is now making mids I think I may sell my Hertz mids and get these new XBL2 motor versions.

But here are the AMT tweeters. They are surprisingly inexpensive at only $150 each.

        • So happy. They made it and are beyond expectations. I didnt realize the surround was aluminum, thought it was plastic so my plans of trimming to fit are thrown out the window. On the bright side I can make a bracket and they will fire just how I wanted them too.

Also my prototype TL65 showed up and my production ones should be here next week.
Gonna tear down the truck and run some much better speaker wires and better RCA wires.

          • Hollar at me if you need any any custom brackets or mdf stuff cut out. I am in the middle of putting together a 3rd cnc router for this kind of stuff.

              • So after hours of futzing around with positioning I found what worked best given my mounting location. They do sound better if I lean forward a foot so my OCD may get the better of me one day and i may make pillar pods. For now this will have to do.
Think I went a little overboard on the speaker wires. LOL

And all nice and hidden away.

Are your stock speakers blown? I'm trading in my 98" Sierra next week and I'm not leaving my new Boston Acoustics 6.5" Pro Separates in the doors...but my stock speakers are gone.

                    • Sorry mang. They were pulled out in stage one, stared at in stage 2, thrown away in stage 3, wondered where they went in stage 4, remembered they were thrown away in stage 5 and now in stage 6 they are still gone. LOLZ

I have some blown $1000 Illusions you can throw in there.

I realize stereo separation is already well beyond the audible range with these amps, but it will also make installation easier. And I'm a freak for symmetry. I have two batteries, so I'll run power down each side. No worry about signal interference with optical down the center. Each 600/4 will power a midbass, a midrange, a tweeter, and a rear coaxial set. I'm even going as far this time as to make the speaker wires the exact same length to all 6 of the front drivers.
I scratched the idea of running a 4-channel for each side, as it didn't work well when it came time to set gains. In fact, when I got done with the install and started tuning, I ran into some strange issues with output voltage discrepancies from one amp to another. I blamed my old H701 processor, bought another, and then discovered that it was actually the brand new Stinger 8000 RCAs that I'd switched to. More than one set was acting up. I could wiggle them and it would cause the signal to cut out or make static or popping noises. WTF?!? They also fall apart like wet bread. I'll never buy RCAs from Stinger again. I decided to go back to JL blue RCAs, but I got distracted and just never got everything put back together. My system is 95% done, and has been for months. I'm bad about that when it comes to projects. Anyway, this thread revival has remotivated me, and I hope to have my stuff all up and running this week.

                        I'll post some pics soon.

yes, but they smell like ashtrays.

I can't wait to hear the review on the new tweets.

                            • So far so good. They are very very sensitive about being on axis but even 30* off they sound very natural and crisp. They sound like a musical instrument, not an electronic device simulating an instrument.

                              • Nice setup man.

I used to love car audio, but never failed my car/truck/SUV would get hit once or twice a year to steal the stuff. The worst was when they could not remove the gear, but would still destroy the cabling/connectors/connections.

Now I stay stock. More power to y'all though, it's nice having clean sounding music.
