    • Aw hell! How could I not have a ZZ Top folder in there? That is unacceptable! Correcting now. Let me know when you want that thanks. BTW, I don't like that song.

      • Got bored so installed the FAST rings today. They work as I had to spend another 2 hours retuning the system. LOL

        • I'm going for excellent SQ this time around. Currently researching acoustic treatment. I want this system to be like fine wine and a perfectly aged prime filet. Once I get the two 12w7s installed, I'm going to spend some time with the RTA getting the amps set properly and the Alpine H701 dialed in using the parametric eq. It should be epic. 2700 watts of pure, clean power with the JL HD amps, top notch drivers, superb electrical system and wiring, optical run from head unit to processor, and gobs of sound deadening... I expect musical bliss.

          • Well that should be loud as fuck. Mine is clean but I wont be able to hit that level of output. LOL

            • I'm also going to run my left and right side off of separate amps. I've had the idea to do this for a long time, so I'm going to give it a shot. I realize stereo separation is already well beyond the audible range with these amps, but it will also make installation easier. And I'm a freak for symmetry. I have two batteries, so I'll run power down each side. No worry about signal interference with optical down the center. Each 600/4 will power a midbass, a midrange, a tweeter, and a rear coaxial set. I'm even going as far this time as to make the speaker wires the exact same length to all 6 of the front drivers.

              • Well ya had me to the last part. I think they have medication for that. Its speaker wire, not an exhaust header.
Reminds me of a story but I don't feel like telling it.

I do remember reading in a couple car audio magazines a decade ago about the significant (measured) difference between running a standard good two channel and two mono blocks. Don't think it was enough to detect by ear but it was measurable.

                • What's y'all's opinion of using 8" subs for mid bass drivers in doors? I know they aren't optimum but has anyone here ran them?

I'm running dedicated 8“ midbass drivers in the doors, infinite baffle. True subs are designed to play sub bass (typically below 100 hz). So if you are really looking for midbass (typically 100-300-ish), get drivers made for that. There are a lot of things you can do to get more midbass out of a good set of 6.5“ components, too.

So...your infinite baffle mid is playing in the airspace of an MDF speaker ring?

                      • No, that foam center piece sits 6-7" from the back of the cone. The second part seals the driver to the MDF 3/4" spacer and then the outer ring directs the drivers sound through the door card thus eliminating any reflections that may occur between the door card and inner panel. The speaker still has the entire door cavity as its "enclosure".

                        • The distance the red line shows is several inches apart, just a bad angle. The yellow line shows how far the window comes down. When the window is down it is between that center section of foam and the speaker.
