Originally posted by jluv View PostBeen thinking about it a lot lately, doing the research, and I've pretty much changed my mind again and have decided not to do it. I know how well these subs pound on 750 watts. Heck, they really move with just 500. I'm not into burping for SPL. I like it loud and sometimes will cruise down the highway jamming full tilt to a whole song. It's brutal, and I love it. Sometimes the sub starts to smell as it is. I just don't think pushing 1500 watts through this sub is going to make a huge difference, and it would suck to fry it unnecessarily. I really wish I could fit another 15 in there. I ran two of them in my Explorer with an HD750/1 on each, with a 7 cube ported box tubed to 33 hz, and it was gnarly, but the electrical system never could keep up (also had the two HD600/4s). I know the electrical system in my F250 can handle all of that and more, but I just flat out don't have the room. I thought about extending the box/center console all the way to the back wall of the crew cab and getting rear buckets. I actually have three Type R 15s laying around, and I think I could fit all 3 in there, grab one more HD750/1... But, at the end of the day, I refuse to give up my rear bench. I use it too much. Same with the bed.

Wish I had pics of it but about 20 years ago I helped on a system in a regular cab Nissan Hardbody that they put two Cerwin Vega 18" strokers in the bed and ported it into the truck. Had several first gen Xtants running them.
Man those Strokers could move some air.
Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

Wish I could find my box of pictures from back than.Whos your Daddy?

Car Audio has come a long way since then. He had 16 15" woofers and 4 Power 1000 amplifiers, well over $10k worth of equipment at his cost. You could probably do the same thing today with a couple of 12s and a wall.

Dude on DIYM is building a system using those really old school Rockford Power Mosfet amps. I was thinking I have seen those amps so many times years ago but never actually listened to a system powered by them. LOLGood judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
