i stepped on a copperhead when i was a kid and all he did was try to get away.

nearly each time i came across a moccasin, they tend to stop whatever they are doing to come give you a what for.

I hate snakes, but especially cottonmouths. One night I had my boat anchored by my slip and was going to night fish/sleep there and go get bait. One swam by and then I swear 4-5 more came out of no where and it was almost like they were trying to get us to leave. They'd come right next to the boat and we'd smack them with fishing rods/push poles...etc.

It worked, we left and anchored in the main area of the lake.
