Doesn't happen often. I've been to many sprint car races and very seldom is the racing like the video you posted. And I have still not seen a skinny tire car kill a cushion. If you jump the cushion it's just crappy traction. It doesn't really do anything to it. It just wears out and get drier the more you run on it.

And if you jump the cushion because either your car isn't handling or you can't drive, what happens to the dirt?

Typically if you can keep a cushion and the low line somewhat grippy you'll have good racing and two grooves.
