All the tracks I've raced on there been nothing to knock down. There is a cushion you can slide up to and will keep you on the track but it's not built up to where it can be knocked down. It's just dry in the middle then at the very top theres a layer of good stuff to hit.

It doesn't happen every time, but we can usually get an inch or two cushion made but it never lasts as it gets knocked down. The only time I was on a track that kept one all night was at Kilgore during the Lone Star Nationals, that was fun to run up against it.

I imagine sprint cars can make one a lot easier with those big tires.

Ok, here is my two scents: most forms of racing where aerodynamics come into play are not very entertaining. 305 sprints usually either run at bottom or top of a track and in most cases you only have a few guys that canoe around and pass people. I have learned there are two main reasons 1) these cars are VERY reliant on setup on small miss and you can start on pole and finish tenth. 2) bc you have a wide variety of people racing from semi pros who raced 360 and just cherry pick to people who have more money than talent. I have yet to watch a wingless 305 show but imagine the racing would be much more interesting to watch bc motors aren't as big of a factor but more driver ability. I have been to many many winged sprint races, including world of outlaws where they just follow the leader.
On the other hand many do not run more than two wide bc the consequences are much greater than that of a full bodied car...obviously, and most if these guys don't get paid enough to be out of work for months bc they broke their back racing. If you want to see real sprint car racing you have to look at California and Indiana where they run as much or more wingless to see really good racing. As far as a cushion goes, most tracks around here wouldn't know what a cushion was if it was 6" tall, but that's partly due to track prep and other classes.
Again this is just my two scents from someone who has spent the last few years (until recently) engulfed with sprint car racing and recently started racing factory stocks.
Sorry for all the misspelled and wrong words, hard for my fat fingers to type on an iPhone 5c

There's a non-wing show at Boyd on 5-23 that I won't be able to make, as I've got an SST show. However, I do finish better without a wing than I do with one, my only complaint is the cars beat the fuck out of you. It's a LOT of fun to run wingless.

Yea it's hard to make it from tyler to Boyd on a Friday night as a manager of an ac company. Too many track owners around here are scared to do it.

Oh trust me is starts a shit storm with my parents aka owners when I take off a day to go race.

This proves my point about the difference in non wing racing. These are 410 sprint cars in Kokomo Indiana. I tried to embed but apparently youtube owns me today.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Wingless spints are the fucking bomb. They dont run many wingless cars here but up in iowa they did.

Unhooking the cars is where you get good racing from. Sure it slows the cars down, but the racing is way better.

Unfortunately they're changing the tire rule on us on July 1, we're going to tires that are 5-10 points softer than what we can run now.

Great more traction on a car that already has too much.

The only thing it's going to really do is speed the cars up on a slick track, which I think will end up hurting racing, but if the track is even halfway decent it's hammer down.

We're going to a spec RR tire and as soft as a D12 on the left.
