Engine / Drivetrain Talk - Money -- Cost for Tune-up for 2006 XLT 5.4 Triton - 108,000 miles; dealer wants $900 for a tune-up. I'm in shock. The dealer keeps telling me that the factory sparks used in 2006 had tips that would break and fall off into the cylinder, resulting in costly repairs. I asked him why there...
V8 Engines - Tune up results in broken spark plugs and a huge repair bill - Recently decided to take my 2005 f-150 for service to get spark plugs, etc. changed. Two days later I got a call that the dealer broke 3 plugs while trying to take them out and wants to remove cyliner heads to finish the work. Just like that a...

V8 Engines - Thank you Ford for the expensive tune up!! - Took my 05 SuperCrew 4x4 to the dealership for a catalytic converter change out... they then told me that #8 cylinder was showing a misfire. They said the coil was bad and the truck possibly needed a tuneup. I thought that can't be too bad... Never would've...
2004 - 2008 Ford F150 - Tune Up / Spark Plug Replacement Interval - Hi all- I just took in my 2005 F150 for scheduled 60,000 mile service at my Ford dealership. The service advisor indicated that, though a change of spark plugs and tune up is not on the factory recommended maintenance schedule until 100,000 miles,...
2007 - 2014 Expedition & Navigator - 07 Expedition Tune up Cost - I want to ask for your advise. I am at 88,000 miles and am getting ready to have the plugs changed on my 07 expedition. I am aware of the plug issues so I will have a dealer perform my tune up. The vehicle has a ford certified used warentee untill...

Second I have done 30 or so of them and in every case I was $300-$1000 less than their written quotes from Ford and the other shops in town.

On a couple occasions I only charged $400 because they did them early and doing a little test tug on the plugs showed me they were all going to come out without me having to de-carbon the engine.
If you bought Champions from Oreillys then you paid $19.99 each. I know this to be fact. My cost is still $19 a piece on them and I spend $8000 a month there.Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
