I know someone who worked with Porsche first Hand on their lemon buy backs. They will probably give him his money or replace it.

Google IMS bearing if you want a little reading pleasure. Kept me way from them when I was looking for a toy.

Apparently Porsche isn't letting anyone take a GT3. LOL

And that's why I couldn't have been happier to see my BMW drive away...

I have always heard that European drive line is solid, but the electrical is shit.

This is why I've never been interested in any german cars, as much as I wish I could be. I just can't affordably maintain them. No matter how handy you are, you still have to order parts from Germany, and there's no way to avoid it. When I was in highschool I did a water pump on a 745i and learned my lesson. I cut checks on mid/high mileage bmw's/mercedes and they always blow up and end up repo'ing because of service issues. Just a time bomb unfortunately.

I got my 06 vette cheap because of this, it had some sensor that operates the fuel gauge go out 3 times and GM bought the car back. I bought the car cheap with addition warranty from GM drove it for 3 years with no issues and then got what I paid for it back out of it even with the buyback being on the carfax.

Did you have the buyback paperwork (details of the problem)?

That's the one issue I have with the German cars I like. Not the work but the time and cost it takes for some parts. Had a 97 E420 couple years back. Cooling fan broke a blade and took out the clutch and bearing mount. Fan was available local and was $90 and then another $75 for the clutch. I thought that was great and didn't see what all the fuss was. Until I tried to find the mount bearing. Not serviceable. Have to replace the mount. Two left in the world and both in Germany and both $1000. This part is basically a water pump looking part with no guts. The water pump is only $50. WTF?

Or my Jaguar XJR. Two suspension rubber bushings went out. Regular old upper shock bushings. $300 per side and two weeks out. I widdled some out of $40 worth delrin and called it a day.

One of the guys at work has a Boxster with 60k miles on it. He's on his third transmission. Transmission keeps having bearing failures. Hasn't had the IMS bearing problem yet he said.

The last one that went out it took them 3 months to get it from Germany. At least in the meantime they gave him a loaner car for 3 months in the form of a Pan-Amera or whatever they call the 4 door family car Porsche

Correct me if wrong but the Lemon law is 3 repeat issues on the same problem within a certian period. I agree with leaking windshield but my guess is the car was wrecked and the owner was not informed on it.
It's 4 times within 2 years. I had a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited that developed suspension noise as soon as I got it. Come to find out that there is a known problem with the rear struts that cost $500 each. Jeep decided they weren't going to do anything about it and told their customers not to be worried about the noise.

Once the second one went out I would have cut that car loose myself.
