Bundy was in the wrong. It wasn't his land so he had no right to it. Nevada even said in their state constitution that lands were given to the feds upon admission to the union. This is not rocket science. It was not his land. Bundy was wrong, and both sides were acting like idiots. The damn thing should have been settled with an arrest warrant and a court date.
