Not that GM would do anything about it(considering the overall topic); but if the customer never lets the local management or corporate management know that the guy is a tool, then how are they expected to address the problem>

Yes I bitched to the higher ups who did nothing. When I went to corporate with the problem she was very nice and advised me that I would probably have to pay their service fee to check out the car, however they would refund it, if it was actually wheel bearings. My problem with this was the dick hole had a tendency to not be able re create my problem until he went and rode with me. She also advised me that she would contact another dealer and try to get it in with out a fee. She was very nice but gave me a lot of maybes and I was tired of Chevrolet at this point. So off to Nissan I went. Actually I was headed for Toyota to buy whatever really cool sport wagon they had at the time and just happened into Urban Nissan along the way. They were great all the way! I have bought several cars from them but they did lose the Rogue sale to Bankston. Tried to do the ole seven trips to the managers office and I despise that. Rolled into Bankston while I was in north Dallas one day and they were great. I saw the sales guy at Clay Cooley the other day when I was getting the oil changed and he couldn't believe what I paid for her car. He was pretty funny and said he knew he fucked up with my deal. Between the service manager and that Equinox just being a total piece of shit I was out!
I believe that some of these people were teenage kids with very little driving experience, and certainly no experience with having the car power itself off at speed.
Oh for fucks sake. The faster a car goes the easier it is to control when there is no power steering. If a two-hundred-year-old woman can drive a '57 Chevy for most of her life than a teenager should be able to handle a car with no power steering. This is also like the Travyon case. We have heard absolutely zero facts in any of these cases and all about what saints and good drivers those who died were.
I imagine the families of those ~15 people have a different point of view. I know that if I had a family member that died because of a .57 part that GM knew needed to be replaced but didn't bother to do so I'd be fucking livid as hell.

This was an easy one that GM ignored and it's now biting them in the ass as it should.
Actually, If the rumor is correct, the 12 (this number keeps changing for some reason) deaths only included one teenage boy, all the others were female, and most (if not all) were teenage.
I dont doubt for a second that the families are upset that the car cut off and their loved one was killed. I would be livid.
IIRC, you have at least one daughter, and you do whatever you can to prepare them for the real world. Have you never had the discussion about what to do if the throttle sticks? Before I was even of driving age, I had heard what to do from my father (who had a throttle stick when he was driving, and warned me about it, apparently it wasnt so uncommon in the 70's) and from the mechanic I worked for when I was 15. I wasnt sent out into the world trained to put full faith in whatever electronic or mechanical device was in front of me.
I guess it's all GM's fault that their supplier ( the one that declared bankruptcy and thus doesn't have the liability anymore) made a part that WEARS OUT. The NTTSA was well aware of this issue as well. How long does GM have to guarantee that everything will be fine on their cars? They start falling apart when they leave the lot, yet people are surprised that the ignition switch is one of those parts? Yet Corvette owners are all aware that they might not be able to start their car any day because the switch locks up...

Yes, Mike has two daughters and like me he has trained his kids like I have mine and your dad you. I hate to break it to you, but not everyone has parents that know about cars or even train their kids with the "if this happens" scenarios. Especially these days the way cars are so automated with bells and whistles its pretty much add gas and take it to Jiffy Lube every 10k miles. Most people don't even know how to change a tire, they get on the horn and call roadside assistance and they are there lickity split to do it for them.
I'm not sure if your just a Chevrolet homer or against frivolous lawsuits, but whatever it is your not going to convince me or any parent that has lost their kid in an accident over a cheap ass part, especially with all the money that they charge for new cars these day's.

I really dont like GM, and I feel like they have shitty build quality. This issue, for me, is an issue spawned by the government bailing them out, and not letting the free market system work.
The NTTSA has been investigating GM since 2005 for air bag systems not functioning like they should in accidents. 660 claims are on record. Why is 31 accidents trumping this other, real, issue? The NTTSA dismissed the ignition switch as a non-safety problem. Yet there is little reporting on the NTTSA's involvement here.

Your extra safety feature. Why? Why not just teach idiots not to be idiots if they lose power on their vehicle. The steering wheel locking is not an issue with this vehicle.

he was saying that was already in place.

And don't get him started on Dodges and 4.7s. Hurts aguys feelings ya know.
Electric steering is really stiff when power not supplied to it. I can imagine a persons reaction to put a shitload of effort into it and situation will cause bad situation easily. Its easy for us to sit back here and point faults when nobody was there. I'm sure there some frivolous suits from bandwagoners but some legitimate ones as well. And watching how many people drive with heads up their ass makes me wonder how they teach their spawn to drive, eek.
