I personally never had an issue with my blend door on my vette. If you decide to do that, I would also replace the hazard switch. For some stupid ass reason they route the turn signal through the hazard switch. One day you're going to try and switch lanes and your turn signals won't work (that was the problem with the vette you looked at from Young Chevrolet). Mine did this occasionally (it got worse with time) and you had to hit the hazard switch to get them back. In order to remove the hazard switch you have to pull the dash. It would also be a good time to do a column lock bypass.

That's exactly what the mechanic at CW said. He said it's just the hazard switch and it's common. It was that issue combined with the others, plus just a gut feeling I had about the car that made me pass on it.

I guess I'll add the hazard switch to the list if I decide to rip it out. I've gone into the codes and reset the HVAC error code and the door will open and I get a blast of cold air for a few seconds and it goes back. I tried the fuse trick too that worked for some people. I was told that the last step is replacing the actuator.

I bought a z06 that had been hit light in the front, so I had to pull the dash on it to replace the popped airbag. Not sure how far you have to go in to get to that vent actuator, but removing the padded portion of the dash is not that bad. I had mine out in about an hr using this write up.

Lol, if there is a C5 vette sitting at sub 5K, me and every other dealer at the auction is going to be bidding. On top of that, even if it "sold" for $5k, I guarantee that it's going to be on call and it will be denied.

No doubt. The guys are great. They introduce themselves and disappear saying "let us know if you want to drive one". No pressure, no hassle. It was great. I found a couple things that needed attention before I signed the papers and they had a mechanic on it fixing it while I was signing. Great service.

I went to Corvette World first and I was in and out in a few minutes. It was too stuffy in there for me. I'm too laid back.

Depends on the year. I will post up the averages from manheim. Cheapest one sold was a 97 for $5995 and it had 324K miles on it.

A lot of dashes have a 'trick' to them involving either removal or just access. They're designed now to be installed by robot at the factory, line up perfect and not rattle. The end result is some dashes almost act like a tetris piece when it comes to pulling them and re-installing them. Once you figure it out, it can be relatively easy. When I worked at the Lincoln house, I could have the dash on a Lincoln LS (tons of elec/AC issues) out, like on a dash cradle by my toolbox out, in roughly 35 minutes. If I didn't care about tearing up interior panels (like at a junkyard) I could do that same dash in 20-25.
