And that's why people don't trust the police anymore...

Very nicely put. I think this probably sums up what the hardcore FTP people feel as well, they are just farther along.

Don't forget about the prison system that basically forces criminals to be even worst - even if they want to make positive changes...etc...etc.

This is what I say all the time. Law enforcement is full of people who have no idea what they are doing in a technical sense. And then they act like fucking crybabies when they get called out on it. To further add insult to injury, morons like 03trublugt then blindly defend them to the point where they get sued and the taxpayers are on the hook.

I noticed that too about him, but a lot of folks say he is a nice dude. Maybe he was just trolling.

Anyway, I can understand a LEO not knowing EVERYTHING there is to know. However, you'd expect a little better on traffic stops. Also, what is wrong with saying "I'm sorry, I was wrong." and then dropping charges...etc...etc?

I don't know other career fields, but it happens in mine. It's not pleasant, but it sure is better than making things worst for your own benefit.

Are you surprised? Texas has more cops per than any other state. I had researched this back in 08/09 and TX lead the pack.

BUT, they weren't really safely pulled over. That was probably the precipitation of the whole situation.

I have issues with how everybody involved conducted themselves, but at the end of the day, I believe in our constitution, and I'm thankful that there are people out there fighting the good fight however small the battle.
It's 287 west of Wichita Falls. Late at night, there is minimal traffic.
I'm generally just tired of cops. Especially the fucks that think they are special because they have a shitty piece of polished metal on their chest.

My course of study has caused me to lose even more respect for police. I understand the function, and even the necessity, but they can keep the rest.

I did contact the guy and give him the name of an attorney that is a 1983 specialist with ties to higher agencies.

Surprised, no, but sorely disappointed and saddened. I hate that there's those who've swore to uphold the rule of law, but somehow think they're absolved of its bearing on them since they have been endowed with the badge.

On the flipside, there are still good officers, but the ones like the goobers in this video serve to validate the growing sentiment of disdane for Leos. Sigh...

The scope of what you can and can't do on a traffic stop isn't all that broad. I would expect someone who is a professional to be aware of what would cost their employer money. Instead when the fuck ups happen there is fingerpointing. You can see it in the recording and even in this thread, if the guy questions these two keystone cops then he doesn't have any "respect" for them. As if he owes them respect for signing up to get a paycheck in that one horse town. He owes them nothing, in fact, they owe him an explanation as to why they are even questioning him, this is a free country.

The fact of the matter is that the entire situation could have been resolved with just a little courtesy. "I'm sorry sir, you are correct, you don't have to show us your ID since you weren't driving, we just stopped to make sure you and your wife are ok". Instead those two morons had to embark on the usual bigger dick contest.

Police have a very difficult job. They do not know who is a bad guy and who is a good guy; however, that does not mean that they should treat everyone as a bad guy right off the bat. Innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around, yet police seem to act as if everyone is guilty.

I know dozens of police officers, and except for a select few, I can say that they are all wonderful and caring people. Even though I have strong feelings about them, I strongly believe that each officer needs to be trained and evaluated as much as possible in order to ensure that these situations do not happen. Training does not need to be something ignorant either, like a written test. Instead, the training should be actors who are brought in to create random scenarios and really test the "on the spot" thinking of the officers.

The only way to learn is to experience, and the only way to truly grow is to be criticized for your actions.

                            This just cracks me up.

Matt is a good dude. If I simply judged people only by what they posted on here I wouldn't be friends with half of the board members I hang out with. You can't entirely judge people by what they post. People say stupid shit on the internet.

This, the fact that they were minding there own buisness and doing nothing wrong the only thing the officer should have done was ask is everything ok and move along.

Sure you can. Especially when they are a cop with a supervisory position that goes on rampages threatening to kick the entire internets ass every time they are called on their bullshit. I know you've been registered a whole ten minutes, but you need to stop defending people who have a decade worth of idiotic bullshit posts just because you've met them. Trying to reduce the discussion to "everyone says dumb shit on the internet" just goes to show that you aren't taking the sum total of Matt's ridiculous ramblings for what they are and show, not even taking into account his blind denial of any type of personal flaws and empty logic. That fucking dipshit has more mental problems than even I do, and that is seriously saying something.
