            Haven't Decided:
            HIDs or not
More HP mods than just the Basics
I hate aftermarket HID's and performance mods on these trucks is a very slippery slope...

it snowballs into $10-20k very quickly... that's why I leave all of mine tune-only. I'm very tempted to mod the reg cab, but I just know how it goes. I see it OVER AND OVER AND OVER on the forums

I can't stand rims bigger than 18" on a truck. It just doesn't look right IMO. I'm not saying to go and throw 15's on it.

but they come with 20's from the factory... I can't stand 95% of aftermarket wheels (including Fuels, no offense) but I'm not going DOWN in size from factory wheels. my .02

If they make an AT/MT with more rubber on for 20's, I'm all for it. I just see alot of these brodozers with 20's or bigger running what look like low profile AT's and it looks out of place to me.

you want to put a $1500 atmo charger on... great... you going to do head studs with that? If not see transmission... if yes are you going to do it right and have the heads tested and surfaced? If the heads are off, I'd highly recommend putting new lifters in. New oil cooler while you're in there.

Even on the bare minimum with studs and labor, you're going to be in it every bit of $4k

transmission... the new-found power from a turbo upgrade is typically the tipping point from "man, this factory transmission sure is a beast!" (see my 182k mile factory job in my 10,000lb service truck with a hot tune for the past 70k+ miles) to "damn, I just smoked the trans"

you going to cheap out and do a basic overhaul with a converter upgrade for $3-4k or are you going to try to actually hold some real power for a while and get up in to the $7-8k range? Personally I'd rather spend $7-8k once vs. $3-4k three times and THEN have to spend $7-8k

even if you go fairly inexpensive on everything, you're well over $10k

If you can remain satisfied with that power level? great... enjoy it and hope you don't crack a piston because that turns into a whole other $10-20k snowball in and of itself.

These things are animals, so the temptation is definitely there, but they're so capable on all stock parts that every single link in the chain is right there on the edge with nothing but a good tune. You go looking for more power and it snowballs from there.

I've seen it played out time and again on the forums and after a few years, the guy gets tired of constantly chasing/repairing this issue or that and sells it for 1/3 of what he's got in it (if he's lucky)

you want to go mid/high 12's in a truck? slap a tune on a 6.4

you want to go 11's? I would rather just buy a car and slap truck tags on it

I feel what you're saying. I think one of the biggest issues is with the wide, deep dish 20's. I have always been good with most factory 20's.

I sort of agree with you guys on the tire. This one is on the edge of acceptable.

                              That is a 37" Tire it's not like it's a stretched 275 60 20 or something like that.

If I still own it in a year or two I'll probably spend the big money on some 40x15.5x20s

Cooter - that's the exact train of thought I was thinking, once you take it past a certain level you start spending gobs of money.
