  • Year number two with our boy

    Howdy Folks,

Many people on this board have been watching as my wife and I went through the process of adopting. It took two years for our son to find us and now we are nearing the two year mark of him being with us. Carpenter is growing faster tha..... how the heck did he get this big so fast????

We've had a great time in the last year. Miyako's mother came over from Japan last spring. She instantly fell in love with Carpenter. She just has to see him at least once a week on Skype. But now his Grandpa has gotten into the act and it totally taken by him. We thing both of them will be coming for a visit this spring (fingers crossed). He has also been back to my home town of West Monroe, LA many times to hang with his Nana as well as up to Illinois to be with Grandpa.

Our birth mother has been over many times to visit. She's had a rough year so we always need to pray for her and the rest of her kids. But it's always good to see her. She's got a good heart. I think she just needs to realize just how wonderful she is.

Another reason I want to share these pictures is for those of you who might be wondering if it is worth it. Yea, it really is. Adoption sure isn't easy or cheap (even fostering can cost you a pretty penny). We live a life of joy every day we open the door of Carpenter's room and see his smiling face waiting for "Ma" and Daddy to pick him up. Words cannot express the happiness and joy that bursts from our hearts. Yes, it's is most definitely worth it.

As always, feel free to reach out to me if you have questions about adoption. There are WAY too many kids out there just looking for someone to love them.

    Enjoy the pictures..

      Good stuff.

Just wait for the night time battles of getting him to stay in his bed when he is 3.

Excellent, that's what life's all about. I know you've heard it numerous times on here before, but he looks like you guys.

Congrats on the little guy, they make our worlds much brighter.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

fun times, enjoy. Go places do stuff. Another year or two and he'll remember what you guys do for a lifetime.

Really enjoyed this post. Hopefully you keep it updated as he grows. One thing I loved about being a daddy, is watching all their "First" of everything. For some reason my son going to school was a huge moment. We kept him hidden from the world for five years and barely any friends. Now he gets to play and learn everyday almost. He gets so excited when going to bed on Sunday night. Knowing that school is the next day.

Before my boy came along, I didn't want kids near me. Now days, I think they're all precious.
