If something feels unusual it is usually worth a closer inspection because it will rear its head again when you don't want it to.

I think I broke my handle on Tuesday when I was racing. I felt it move unusual going into 4th but didn't think anything of it.

                  It's from 2006, it's been in a few cars.

Lucky it was only right outside your house. I tried driving mine into work last year when it looked like that. Was good until I hit a county road that hadn't been plowed yet and my summer tires couldn't find the road. Never again.

I park my car in a garage. See the accumulation on the trunk?

So why the rust? Water getting in your shift boot? Maybe a coolant line to the shift cooler?

It spent about a year in the floor board of my GT. Probably got rusty there. My pistol grip came with a new nut, I'll be sure to replace it, sir.

                            Jeez!

I took a second take on that too. It looks fake as fuck. And Mike would do that, because he's homo.

You should. Rust degrades the metal, thus compromises the integrity of the shifter. When you're trying to jam it in gear, having to push harder with bad syncros, bent forks and a stretched cable; something is gonna give. My money is on the rust
