What the fuck? This guy got railroaded like Zimmerman did. This makes me sick...

So you entertain yourself by making sure you appear to be an idiot?
          Sounds legit.

You shouldn't be able to say the word "fire" anywhere at any volume because you might just yell it in a theatre and cause a panic.
Oh, you have the right to say it, you just better suck up the consequences when you do.

The "problem" with our rights is that they require personal responsibility and self control. There's a great many people that don't want the responsibility nor control, so they give our rights away to the government.

"we're exempt from the law?" Really? They even stated it. Wow. I would fight this as far as humanly possible. And then find a good attorney and take it further. Fuck that bullshit.

Some pos walked in a school and killed a whole bunch of kids then some other pos walked into a theater and kill some folks there too. I like guns. I can't afford one but I think they're cool....but fuck you and your fucking guns and your right to own one, bitch. Walking around with a fucking assault rifle because its your right, bitch please......
I will buy you a gun if you will garge with it...fucking sorry excuse for an American.

The point of the first amendment is that there are no consequences except in very limited scenarios where exercising your right to free speech might impact someone else in a harmful manner.

I can't think of a situation where just possessing a gun in public would do that. Furthermore, if walking down the street with a rifle truly makes a person a threat to the public then why aren't the police arresting everyone going in and out of the Dallas Gun Show carrying rifles?

Rights are kind of srs bznz, so I can see why we'd take it serious.

I don't think many people/anyone will disagree with what you're saying. I say it and I've seen others say it - we may not do exactly what he did. However, he standing up for himself in that situation and is completely legal and in his rights to do so.

Also, keep in mind if a cop is a dick - you're stuck with the financial burden to get your stuff back and deal with all the stress/legal problems.

I think it could also be argued that the cop(s) could be more understanding. Maybe be more submissive about asking for data. i.e. "Hey man, I know it's totally in your rights and legal to do what you're doing. Some folks are freaking out and not listening when we explain the law. I can't and won't stop you, but it would be nice if we could run your information so we can tell them to "stuff it" when they call in the future."

At least make some attempt to be decent about it, beyond FORCING their power on the guy toting the gun. I know not every cop is a bad cop. There is one cop on here, I only met him once but if he needed something and called I'd help him. I also feel he is probably a decent cop, so I try to pretend I'm a decent cop and KNOW better than to do these things. I understand they have to do their due diligence. However, don't force the citizen to escalate their aggressiveness while trying to do so.

Hell, there are 20 other questions they could ask to get an idea. They can even legally stalk him for awhile...etc..etc.

I see you're still as big an idiot as ever.

Of all the things to take "way to serious" rights and civil liberties are at the top of the list.

Back in the 90's a couple of friends and I were leaving Bourbon Street in our rental car and were at a stop light. I looked out the open window and saw this fat fuck cop asleep on a fucking park bench. I yelled "Fire!" and you should have seen that motherfucker shoot straight up into the air like he had been hit with an electric shock, head swinging furiously back and forth. Then he looked right at our car as he figured out there wasn't a fire, the light turned green, and we got the hell out of there. God I wish cell phones were around back then.
