living up north and being on the ice with like a 100 cars/trucks is fucking insane. Shit is 2 feet plus thick sometimes.

I didnt even want to walk on it. Now im one of the crazy fuckers out there as soon as its 6-8 inches thick.

The worst is when the ice shifts on you the first time out and a shock wave comes. It sounds like a huge crack is heading right for your shack.

I could be wrong, but that ice appeared to be thick as hell, being that it was supporting that vehicle's weight on the very edge of the ice. I bet that was probably one of type of situations where it was left running on the ice and the heat of the vehicle melted it away from beneath. I just can't see it breaking through from the weight and then the ice being able to support the way they pulled it back up.

I was talking to some folks when I was up in WI, and they were excitedly waiting for the lakes to freeze so they could go ice fishing. Ive never been or been in an area where it freezes like that, so I was questioning that.

I said it sounded like it was pretty cold, and I wouldnt want to be out on ice and in the cold to do some fishing. The dude said with a straigt face "oh, we build a big fire on the lake to keep us warm" I didnt know what to say, obviouly that works, but sounds sketchy as hell.
