I honestly hardly ever listen to anything by them, I think messengers was better than constellations, though. I just think they have a good drummer.

I think she does fine @ covers. Has anyone else noticed that the sound of the drums(brand of head/tension of the head/brand of drums...) sounds funny or is it just me?

It's because it's a direct midi input samples that you're hearing. The drums are not mic'd up. Hardly any bands use mic'd drums for recording now. I'm not sure all the technical stuff, just something I've heard in interviews. Most bands use something called superiordrummer 2.0. I found a good video of the difference in sound when this guy Travis Orbin fucked up recording a song.

It happens at 1:28, his drums are mic'd up, so you can hear the difference, especially when recording for a video.

you could say they are a "run of the mill" hardcore band, but for some reason, i find myself listening to them all the time.

for me, i think it has a lot to do with the catchy-ness. They aren't exactly the most technical band out there, but they do their job well. Another thing that i think gets them a lot of attention is that they are a Christian band. Not a bunch of christians in a band.

if i were to suggest a cd for you, listen to Thrill Seeker. That was their first big album.

Didn't know that they were a christian band. Welp, now I can't listen to them. J/K. There are a couple of christian bands I really enjoy, like Haste the Day and Oh, Sleeper.

I actually didn't like anything they did until Dreamer. Attack of the Wolf King has it's moments, but for the most part is pretty crappy. "The Quiet, Deadly Ticking" is probably my favorite song from the latter.

Most of the Meytal shit sounds mic'd to me, bit sloppy for triggers, I don't see any triggers either. Listen to the last 5-10 secs of Tom Sawyer.
