here's a link to a longer vid. to me it looks as he's looking around to see who's watching, and waiting for the right opportunity to pull it out and flick it. looks very intentional to me. also looks as though he flicks it once and it doesn't explode and then moves it closer to the gas nozzle and flicks it again.
