Someone told me a story that the wing on those was only that high so the trunk could open. Otherwise it has zero functionality.

He said that the little car lot he bought if from had owned it for over a year and was the 6th dealer to have bought it that couldn't sell it. I look at the pictures every once in a while and still can't believe it. He was thrilled when he sold it because he got $3500.
Back in the late 70’s there was a gas station in Irving that had three of them sitting off to the side rotting away. Even at that young and easily impressionable age I thought they were an incredibly ugly looking car. My opinion hasn’t changed. There are a lot of rare and historically significant things that I would have no interest in owning (except to turn around and sell). This is one of them. Funny how guys with money can inflate the value of something that was, at one time, essentially worthless.

It could have been six inches high, or six feet high, and it would have had the SAME functionality - which was quite a lot, actually. The race cars had the ability to change the angle of attack, which kept the rear end glued at 200mph. But yes, the final height of the wing was determined by the ability to open the trunk.

                Idiots.

I'll take any of them you don't want.

they may be ugly, but i bet you dont see another one like it unless you go to a specialized car show or larger car show. Just something about showing up to a car gathering and having something most others dont show up with. (ie- camaro, mustang, etc)

It's functional in that it adds downforce AND you can open the trunk
