Personally if I had to choose, I'd go with the 1LE. Im pretty sure it's even a dry sump motor as well. Better motor, same suspension and everything else. The brakes may be the only difference.

Not surprised that the Z28 is faster, a little more set up to run around a track. Would be curious to see a Gt500 with a different tire set up. The Z28 has 305's all the way around if I recall correctly. The tires on the gt500 are always fighting for traction.

I would say it is a little more set up for the track that the gt500. No blower to heat soak, big tires all the way round, ceramic brakes, no options (ac option, one speaker stereo).

I'd be happy to run that track with a sub 3,500lb car, with AWD, and gobs of torque.. Make and model would mean little.

Tune up our current TL, throw some appropriate tires on it, and I would be right there.

                    Who? what? Where?

I'm ready to take the TL.. Measly 305hp. AWD. Torque vectoring and stability management. I would leave it all on. It has thoroughly impressed me and I'm ready to take challengers.

No but I bet it would run a faster time.

The obvious thing that everyone seems to be missing is that 10 seconds faster around the 'ring will mean exactly dick to 99.999% of the people who will buy either car, because they will never have the ability to push it that hard. The main reason I posted the vid was because of the the skills of the driver fighting that fucker so hard.

And that's mostly because of the weight of the car and the crappy tires.

That's why I'd like to autocross the daily. Just like I did with the Mustang. You get to learn every in and out of your vehicle and push it to the limits for more than 8 - 11 seconds in a straight line. In one day you get about 6min of at speed, on edge driving. As compared to a few 8-9 second passes at Kennedale.

You quickly learn the max capabilities of your car, which I loved to know while driving the streets. Not that I necessarily drove aggressively, but I knew what I could get away with if I needed to.
