From Guadalcanal to Okinawa, Marine pilot Archie Donahue established his reputation as a combat ace.
This WW2 Double Ace lived two houses up from us in Texas City after the war. I remember all his stories and memorabilia he had. He gave a number of "pieces" to my father, Ed White, who had went to school with him at the School of Engineering at The University of Texas.
I was fortunate to meet him again when he was at Addison and had him autograph a few pictures. Quite a guy!
He epitomized the "Greatest Generation". I am glad I got to visit and talk with him before he passed away.
