Drain all the oil and fill it up with mustard....just plain yellow mustard. You can also add some cranberries if you'd like.

Sounds like a cam or valve train problem to me. Way too much clatter. Almost like there is an interference problem. You got the right length push rods? Take the oil filter off and cut it apart to see if you have metal parts.

I also heard that egg shells keep it from knocking!

            a few questions

did you have a oil pressure gauge connected to it, what did it read?
was the oil pump already mounted. What did you do to the motor you bought from autozone. How did you adjust the lifters?
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

Gauge read 200, we just dropped the motor in, used an impact on the lifters.

No gauge, just used the idiot light and it never came on. Besides, we used Slick 50 in it for the first oil change. My cousin who helped me put the motor in has been working on dragsters for 5+ years and that is what they do on full blown race motors. Does anyone know how to push start a car with a C4 automatic? We got it going down the hill right out side the trailer park, but the motor never kicked over when I slipped it in D. We're going to try pulling it with my friends truck and get some more speed.

Yeah, you got to get it up fast enough to where the rear pump gets the transmission going. Then it'll start to spin the motor over. 65 might get it there.

Just make sure to hook to the sway bar because it is very secure and give it a hard yank right off the line.

I wouldn't tow it behind the truck, push it because when that bad boy lights off it'll want to eat the backend of whatever truck is pulling it. This way, you can just haul ass and have fun.

Some of you are too easy. As soon as I saw plug wire routing I knew that was something jw33 had nothing to do with.

What do you know, his drag race cousin could have done them!

Just a thought about push starting it with a truck, you might think about using one of your various NASCAR tires you have hanging in your living room as a buffer so you don't scuff your chrome. That or your sister's spare mudder tire.
