Dayum. I can't tell when he exactly told her it was hers. Hardly any reaction. Barely a side hug, no kiss. I bet she was about to dump him anyway. She might be just a simple country girl and not impressed with such things.
No way in hell I would buy something like that for a girl friend.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I don't give much emotion with surprises, never really have. I would have had similar reactions to that chick most likely, minus hugging and kissing the guy.
I gave my girlfriend a 04 neon with 204,000 for Christmas year before last. I bought it with bent valves, broken timing belt, and what appeared to be part of a couple kids lunches for a few weeks imbedded and scattered throughout the interior. Did all the mechanical repairs, pulled and cleaned all the interior, had my upholstery guy repair the seats where they needed it, threw a cd player with aux input so she could plug her phone it, couple old subs and amp in the truck, replaced the dead front speakers, etc. It turned out to be a decent car. My girlfriend even helped with some of the interior cleanup, I pulled the covers off the seats and had her run them through the wash a few times and went to the upholstery shop to help reassemble it all.
She thought the car was being fixed for resell, that was my original plan when I bought it and stuck with that sentiment all the way to Christmas. We took it a few places so I could "test" it before putting a for sale sign in it and drove it to Christmas at her families. I gave her a key and key fob wrapped in multiple boxes, layers of wrapping, etc to make it feel big and heavy, final box was probably a foot square. She almost broke down crying when she realized what she got. She'd been driving a ragged monte carlo her family had from when she moved down here from Ohio.
Anyway, she's put close to 40k on it in 2 years, takes pretty decent care of it, and still thinks it's an awesome car. I'm just thrilled it's still holding together and never dreamed it'd been this good a ride. I was into it @ $1250 to get it where I was happy with everything for her.Last edited by shumpertdavid; 10-04-2013, 09:43 PM.
