Wow, nice attempt at trying to spin what I said into something racist instead of about a current automotive trend running rampant...

As far as the rat-rod stuff, pretty sure (or at least I'd hope) that the build isn't near finished and that it will more refined when completed. I like the chopped top and the front wheels extended forward. Classic highboy 'Tudor' styling queues applied to something different, and not the same ol' cookie cutter bullshit that has been done thousands of times.

And yeah Forrest, it needs more Cummins.

I think that could look pretty cool. You could put a hell of an engine in there too.

If you're going to go through the trouble of building a suicide front end why leave it two feet off the ground? Might as well Z the shit out of the rear also and go for broke.

This is all just based on that pic though. Even on early Ford coupes I'm not a big fan of suicide setups. A drop axle mounted behind the frame horns look 10x better, IMO, but that's a lot of work on something like this.

I agree with you there. Looking through his facebook build, he has already changed the front end once.

I have been kicking around the idea of the quarter elliptic leaf spring front end, but with a twist. I'd like to run a dual-quarter elliptic front, meaning a pair of quarter springs on each side and NOT running hairpins, with the spring ends mounted above and below the axle tube and no spring shackles. Picture the usual setup like below, but no hairpins and another set of quarter-elliptical below the ones shown. If places right above/below the frame rails it would appear to be extensions of the frame rail.

Now, this setup would not handle very well, and would make adding shocks a nightmare or ugly as hell, but it would look cool in my opinion.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't want to drive something that "looks cool, but doesn't handle very well".

I just think that there's too much "one-up-manship" going on these days. That's cool for the evolution of hotrodding, but sacrificing safety or handling to look cool just screams stupidity to me.

These are just my opinions though. I'm not picking on your opinions, Stevo.

Because hot rodding now is all about fashion when it was born out of a desire to go fast on the cheap.

Hey it's cool. But if everyone was too worried about the handling and safety of vehicles, you wouldn't see anyone driving tri-5 Chevys, 70's muscle cars, air-cooled VWs, older convertibles, etc.
