Lookin good Eddie, did you use a stud puller to start with on the crease or was there room for a hammer on the inside?

Thanks Shumpy!! I used a hammer and a hard wood dowel rod. I pushed it out as far as I could until it started stretching the metal.

why the remote reservoir shocks? Those are typically an "endurance" thing for long sessions. I would think a regular shock would be fine for 8 second passes?

I painted my roll cage the same color. Ask Scott what he thought about it.............

and then ask him what color his roll cage, floorboard, and every other part of his car is painted now. LOL

If you look at Penske and other high end shock manufactures their top of the line shocks all use a gas reservior. I couldn't afford a set of $3000 shocks so I went with the next best and that is AFCO. I could give you my limited knowledge of why and how they work but I don't understand it enough to try and explain it where I wouldn't confuse you and me!! Lol Here is a snip it of some of the information I found from AFCO, the PENSKE site gives some good info too. If anyone else can elaborate further feel free. I feel like I will get to know why and learn a ton when we start tuning them. Mine have custom valving from TRZ Motorsports for hooking up on the street with radial applications.

                From AFCO:

"This shock uses a remote reservoir and gas pressure to maintain relatively higher levels of pressure on the shock internals. This pressure keeps the shock oil from caviating (creating air bubbles) during high speed movements. The design also allows the use of a larger shock piston in a mono-tube arrangement. The larger piston provides more area and increases sensitivity."

I saw his and thought that it looked great and was a good idea. If something else needs to be welded to the chassis it will sure be easy to fix. I guess I owe you a thank you as well!! Thanks Jason!! Ha ha ha

Oh, I am fully aware of the use of reservoir shocks. I thought it was unique to see them on a drag car.

I thought it was new as well but apparently Penske has been doing it for a while now. I have adjustments for rebound and compression on the shock itself but I also have a dial on the gas reservoir as well. I'm assuming it is like the Penske and it is a high and low speed compression adjustment.

Thanks!! Yeah I had all night to kill the other night to get ready to go back to work so I just knocked it out. I have some stuff to fix on the firewall so I will start working on that next week. I wanna have the engine bay nd door jambs painted by the middle of next month.

Thank you. I used to think it was some kind of sin too but I realized that no manufacturer was sponsoring me or paying me so I'll go with whats fast and cheaper to build. Lol

                          • I got the underneath side of the car ready to paint. A lot of elbow grease and a sore neck later this is the result.
