  • I had almost an Identical accident, but only with far better outcomes. I only had to replace one motor and 3 CF props.
I searched for the cause, and like you, thought it had to be a controller issue; But I was mistaken. What had actually occured, is that motor 1's propnut had unscrewed slightly. All of my other quads have keyed propshafts, which prevent the prop from free-spinning if loose, but our 250's are smooth. As the FC tried to compensate for the abnormal condition, I felt as though I lost all controls, except throttle. And then, while in self-level mode, it did 3 lefthand rolls and missed our security guard by less than a meter, as it went full speed into the parking lot.
My motors (sunnysky) dont have cw\ccw shafts. They are all 4 the same, where as yours are cw\ccw, so you may have had a different cause.

    • Nuts are tight. That was my first thiought as well. I have had the CC3D do a couple strange things before but it was just a 1' off the ground so it only broke props. This time though.... it was bad.

I feel your pain bro. I just ordered a cc3d, to give it a try, and my need your help in using the open pilot software, and setting the quad up. I have had freakouts with the KK board, and that doucher crashed his naza at the
Whitehouse, so it seems as though every brand can go haywire, so I hope your crash doesn't disuade you from flying. Mine crashed a week ago today, and I have yet to fly any of my stuff, as I continue to recover from the momentary depression that always follows a crash.

I have a bunch of family in Waco, so the next time I visit, I will pack heavy, and come break some stuff with you.

        • Excellent.

It will be a few months before I can afford to drop $400 on repairs. I am addicted to 4S and cant go back to 3S and that power system wasnt cheap.

I do have a Ladybird FPV on the way to pick on my Nanos.

              • Been a busy week for me. I continue to struggle with my FPV goggles. So Monday was a bust with a dead monitor.
I got two line of sight flights in and called it quits.

But enough about the B-17’s for a while, I am taking a break from them to rehash an older project.

My 7.5ft MD21, is back on the work bench. I went back and forth for a while on how I was going to power it, and for now I’m thinking a twin pusher prop setup is best.
The plan is to take off with the D21 drone on the back of the Blackbird. I will do as scale as a takeoff as I can, then circle back around and do what I call a vanity pass (low pass with the inside wing tipped in for a good look at the plane for anyone wanting to take pictures). Then I’ll climb out circling back toward the field gaining altitude on the approach. If all is going well this is when I release the drone. I will flip a switch that untether’s the drone and push the stick forward dropping away from it. Once clear My friend Dallas (who will be flying the drone) will ignite a C6 rocket in the ass of the drone and blast across the field leaving a trail of smoke, sound, and fire while I circle high and away in the Blackbird. After he glides in and lands I’ll do the same.

                Sounds simple right? Lol

Because I know that I’m going to be doing a lot of testing and maybe crashing with this project, I decided to build a test mule before trying it with the original. This one will be less detailed and have fixed landing gear. I hope by Monday it will be ready for flight so I can do some glide tests with the D21.
