I know that when I was the Army, way back when, if you took your spouse with you to a Germany assignment, you would stay 3 years rather than 2, and they would ship your POV for you.

So is Gitmo that large of a base to have a personal vehicle?

Spangdahlem right outside of Bitburg. Been there a few times, that base is in the middle of no where. It was number one on my wish list when i joined because they had F16. But K town is where it's at, spent a lot of time there too.
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

However you are responsible for making sure it meets the host country's safety and emission standards. That and there are lots of things you have to do to prep it for transport. Most of the time it's better to buy a car over there.

He bought it here. He had a thread a while ago before he got stationed asking opinions on whether or not he should keep it and transport it over or sell it and buy something else there.

My dad was stationed in Germany in the 60's and had a buddy with some sort of Boss. It got stolen, but luckily was found on the side of the highway with nothing wrong, other than an empty gas tank. LOL, someone wanted a joy ride.
