  • Section 8 Rental - what a sad and upsetting experience

'Well here it is in all its beauty or what’s left of it! When we first
rented out this house it was in MINT condition….now look at it. I’m not
suggesting that I have a solution for the housing needs of people who
are less fortunate but whatever the government is doing isn’t working!
If you want to see what this house use to look like, then wait till the
end of the video as there will be pictures posted. There u will see what
the house use to look like before we rented it out via Section 8. Take a
quick look…it will blow your mind!'

I'd say he made a bad decision or got bad advice. Do people not know what "section 8" means?

Well, while I feel bad for them, what did they expect from Section 8 tenants?

I know a couple of different landlords that love sec 8. They always get their checks. Supposedly the renters are inclined to not tear things up because they can lose their voucher. I have heard too many horror stories to take the gamble. Besides, I don't want to contribute to the degradation of my old neighborhood. They might take care of the house, but that doesn't mean their little hood rats aren't running around doing shit

it means he got a rent check on time every month from the government! but i feel the tenant should be arrested for theft with all those missing kitchen appliances!

If you read the whole story at the end, it is pretty sickening what happened to them. They were trying to do the right thing all the way through it and just got stuck in a bad spot. I feel pretty bad for them.

It sounds like the homeowner was left no other real options. Read what he wrote at the end of the video. The area that home is you can buy a house for 40k, down from an average of 150k in 2007. I imagine they are on the hook for 200k and don't want to default. I don't think they could sell or rent to a normal person in that area without going the Section 8 route.

"Section 8" is a gamble, and you have to think long and hard if you're considering gambling with your investments. As we all know, a gamble is a gamble, and it can go either way. I've heard hundreds of stories like this but they're always superseded by the good stories. I have two friends that have multiple section 8 homes and have had them for many years. Not once have they had a bad experience. About the only bad thing that ever occurred to one of them is when the tenant abandoned the property just a few months into the contract. House had been abandoned for already a couple of months before he found out. He contacted the govt. agency to let them know and he was told the checks would keep coming to him for the remainder if the contract. He did some upgrades and sold it a few years later when the market got better.

Probably not little, unless it was those crystals.

I wouldn't let a gorilla or even a dog to live in my house for a month and expect to find it on one piece. The same goes for section 8.

Looks like a prime candidate for some faulty wiring and an electrical fire.
