Pretty sure this is useless, alternator needs signal to "excite" the rectifier. Now maybe if you turn the key to "on" prior to doing this you have a chance of making this work.
Also 99% sure the alternator does not care if it spins backwards.

The battery won't charge unless the regulator allows it to. If the batteries are completely dead, there's no way for the regulator to allow the alternator to begin charging.
Most modern vehicles won't allow it without a corresponding crank signal
